José Trinidad Marín

The artistic life of Jenni Rivera was full of many musical successes, unfortunately, her private life was something else. She went through multiple personal problems and one such tragedy was when the entertainment world was shocked to learn that her first husband José Trinidad Marín had abused his own daughters, Janney Marín and Jacqueline Marín. Since then, the man continues to pay his sentence behind bars even in 2021.

José Trinidad Marín: 10 Dark, Twisted Things About Jenni Rivera’s Ex-Husband

1. In short

  • José Trinidad Marín was the first husband of Jenni Rivera.
  • José Trinidad Marín sexually abused his own daughters namely Chiquis and Jacquie Rivera when they were still children, as well as his sister-in-law, Rosie.
  • The father of two was then a fugitive, divorced, sentenced to 31 years in prison, interestingly forgiven by his daughters and he is still serving his sentence.

2. José Trinidad Marín childhood:

An American Mexican man named José Trinidad Marín was born on February 15, 1964 in California, United States. On the other hand, some sources say that was born and raised in Mexico and moved to the United States (the year was not disclosed) with his family.

3. José Trinidad Marín married life:

José Trinidad Marín met the future singer-songwriter, Jenni Rivera, in high school, in the year 1985.

Jenni Rivera was only 15 years old when she became pregnant with the first of her many children, Janney “Chiquis”. This couple ended their marriage because José genuinely mistreated his wife Jenni in addition to the rape allegations.

José Trinidad Marín tied the marital knot to Jenni Rivera at the young age of 20. The couple was blessed with three children, Chiquis the eldest, Jacqueline in the middle, and Michael as the youngest. But he and Jenni Rivera separated in 1997 because Marín was accused of the assault and rape cases of their two daughters and her sister, Rosie.

4. José Trinidad Marín was a fugitive for 9 years:

It was in the early 90s when the late singer, Jenni Rivera, discovered the dark news: her husband, José Trinidad Marín, better known as Trino Marín, had abused his own daughters.

La Diva de la banda, put her case in the hands of justice After learning this painful truth.

Unfortunately for the Rivera family, Trino Marín managed to flee, giving him a tag of fugitive for 9 years by doing things like changing his identity and a new life in Riverside County. Nevertheless, he was arrested and Trino Marín’s freedom ended when in 2006 the authorities managed to capture him. In addition, the victims also had the collaboration of a former FBI agent, who helped Jenni and her family to catch him.

5. Then, José Trinidad Marín was granted parole:

During the process, the media reported that Trino’s relatives told Jenni, that she was surely taking advantage of the situation, to advertise herself. When everyone believed that the singer’s first husband would pay for all the damage he did, in October 2006, a judge granted him probation after posting a $1 million bond. This hit the Riveras like a bucket of cold water, fearing that the abuser would flee to Mexico.

6. The sentence came in 2007:

When Jenni Rivera confessed that her sister and her daughters had been abused by her husband, it was one of the most famous moments in the life of ‘La Diva de la Banda’ and perhaps one of the saddest.

For the “ Diva de la Banda” it  was very difficult to see her ex-husband again and go through the legal process, but she considered that many women would take her example and prevent the same from happening to them:

“Yes, we had to revive things that perhaps we had already buried … but I think it is necessary for full recovery, for what I feel is my mission, which is to help other people who may have suffered the same things,” she said.

In May 2007 the judge found 43-year-old José Trinidad Marín guilty, after several months of the legal process. The sentence responded to eight felonies, including lewd acts with a minor, ongoing sexual abuse and aggravated sexual assault on a minor, according to Deputy District Attorney Mark Burnley. They sentenced him to 31 years in prison.

José Trinidad Marín has asked that his sentence be reduced and that he be released on bail for good behavior making it two occasions for a release however, the judge has denied it.

On March 4, 2010, Jenni’s ex-husband asked for supervised release for the first time and on June 26, 2013 he did it again. Coincidentally, this second attempt by Jenni’s first husband coincided with Janney “Chiquis” Marín’s 28th birthday and when there were a few days left, for the launch of Jenni Rivera’s autobiographical book: “Unbreakable”.

7. The trial of José Trinidad Marín:

It was in 2007 that José Trinidad Marín was found guilty, After several months of trials, responding to six to eight serious crimes.

José Trinidad Marín was found guilty of actions including abuse and aggravated sexual assault against a minor and lascivious act with a minor, giving him a sentence of 31 years in prison.

He had asked that his sentence be reduced and that he be released on bail for good behavior on two occasions but his lawyer has denied it, for the moment Trino Marín is still in jail in 2021.

Rosie Rivera: Victim 1

Rosie Rivera had waited for years, for the moment when justice would put the man who stole her innocence behind bars when she was just 8 years old. In the criminal court, Jenni’s sister recounted how her brother’s first husband abused her for the first time.

Rosie Rivera, a victim of her brother-in-law, recounted during an interview the first abuse she had suffered from her brother-in-law Trino Marín: “Chiquis and I were playing Barbies, and he came in. He asked her to come out and she asked me if I wanted to play, let’s play love games and she brought a quilt. He started kissing my neck and touching where no one had touched me”.

Chiquis Rivera: Victim 2

For her part, Chiquis Rivera revealed how her father sexually abused her from 8 to 12 years old : “We were coming from the beach and when I went to the bathroom to bathe and get the sand out, he came in and sat me naked between his legs. There it happened for the first time”.

Jacqie Rivera: Victim 3

In 1997, after the first two confessions, it was also found that he also abused his other daughter, Jacqie when she went for the physical examination.

The court trial lasted for a year which technically was until Trino was declared guilty of sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 31 years to life imprisonment. The court ordered nine counts of felonies, three counts of child abuse, one count of sexual abuse, one count of repeated sexual abuse, and three counts of oral intercourse with a child.

The entire Marin family was present in court, including the children, at the hearing. His eldest daughter, Chiquis, who was the victim of rape, said: “I would just like to tell my father that I love him and forgive him. I may not think I love him, but I do. ” She was abused between the ages of 8 and 12, but she still loves her father.

8. Death of ex-wife in plane crash:

On December 9, 2012, Jenni died in a plane crash. He was traveling on a Learjet 25, but the plane crashed near Monterrey, Mexico. She, along with six other passengers on board, died from this accident. Jenni was in town for her musical performance. Unfortunately, the event did not end well due to this incident. She was buried on December 31, 2012 in her Long Island hometown at All Souls Cemetery.

9. José Trinidad Marín today in 2021:

Despite all the dreadful things he caused his family, Trino and his children are on good and speaking terms.

Just 2 years ago, his eldest daughter, Chiquis, got married to Lorenzo Mendez. in 2019, her dad José Trinidad Marín called her from prison and his daughter publically shared by recording this whole call on her YouTube vlog. The video shows that Jackie spoke with her dad, gave Chiquis the phone and said, “Hi, Dad, I have your little girl here.”

Just 4 years ago, José Trinidad Marín had met with Jacqui, his younger daughter in 2017. The father and daughter took photos together and Jacqui even stated that had forgiven her father for the sins that he committed, so he could move on with his life. She also posted photos with her father and also asked others to forgive him and give him a second chance at life.

This incident showed that José still gets along with his daughters. Even if the girls had a terrible childhood, they still love their father. Furthermore, José has also accepted his crime and is doing his best to become a good man.

10. Is José still in jail?

A rumor from 2018 says that José was getting out of jail for his excellent behavior but as we have reached 2021, it seems that this is just a rumour and nothing more. Many people claim that he should not be released, which shows that people are still furious about this incident.

At the moment in 2021, the only thing that is known is that Jose Trinidad Marín continues in jail.

Julie Chrisley and Tax Evasion: 8 Things You Need To Know

Published

By

Julie Chrisley

Fraudulent loans, millions hidden from the tax authorities, unpaid debts….Todd and Julie Chrisley, two stars of reality TV in the United States have hit rock bottom. They were found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud, for several million dollars of damage. These two personalities found success in the United States thanks to the reality show Chrisley Knows Best. In hindsight we need to ask if they truly knew best.

Julie Chrisley: 8 Facts About Her Bank Fraud + Tax Evasion

1. A $36 million loan, the penalties are heavy:

A jury found the Chrisleys guilty of falsifying audits, bank statements and their personal finances to secure $36 million in loans. The couple later spent the money on “luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate and travel – and used new fraudulent loans to pay off old ones,” the US attorney’s office press release said. The couple’s accountant, Peter Tarantino, 60, was also found guilty of tax offenses. Followed by three years of probation, he was sentenced to three years in prison.

2. It all began in June of this year:

After being found guilty of fraud and tax evasion in June 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced Monday, November 21, 2022 in Atlanta.

Bank Fraud:

The couple was convicted of falsifying documents to take out $30 million in fraudulent bank loans before they even gained notoriety in this program which follows the daily life of a wealthy family.

Also according to prosecutors, Chrisley’s “empire” was built on the backs of defrauded banks that collapsed while Todd Chrisley used the stolen money to travel to Los Angeles for haircuts every two weeks.

Debt wasn’t paid off:

Todd Chrisley, who had made a fortune in real estate, has also not repaid more than 20 million dollars in debt, after going bankrupt in 2012, relays Variety. With his wife, he also allegedly hid millions of dollars from the US tax authorities during the broadcast of the show.

After defrauding banks of tens of millions of dollars, they hid millions of dollars from the taxman, while appearing on TV to brag about how much they spend on designer clothes”, federal prosecutors wrote in their report.

3. Sentenced to 12 and 7 years in prison:

Stars of the American reality TV show “Chrisley Knows Best”, broadcast since 2014, Julie and Todd Chrisley were sentenced respectively to seven and twelve years in prison, on November 21, for fraud and tax evasion.

This Monday, November 21, Todd Chrisley, 54, was sentenced to twelve years in prison for bank fraud and tax evasion, while his wife Julie, 49, was sentenced to seven years for her involvement.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars’ sentencing comes five months after a jury found the couple guilty of tax evasion.

4. The couple reportedly showed no remorse, which increased the penalties:

While the couple is expected to appeal the judge’s decision, there’s little chance it will change that. “The fact that they did not accept any responsibility, even after being sentenced, is one of the reasons why the judge hammered them repeatedly, and why they were given such heavy sentences. They took no action to mitigate what they had done.”

Reality TV stars known for their show “Chrisley Knows Best”, Todd and Julie Chrisley will probably serve a large part of these prison sentences, estimates a legal expert consulted by People, who indicates that in this area, discounts penalties for good behavior are relatively low in the United States.

5. Todd and Julie Chrisley head to jail in early 2023:

Indicted in 2019, Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted of a series of charges in June, and have since been under house arrest at their Nashville estate, pending sentencing. After serving their prison terms, Both were also sentenced to three years of supervised release to be completed according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. According to the NY Times, the couple will be expected to serve their sentence beginning from early 2023.

6. What will happen to the kids?

Todd and Julie Chrisley are the parents of Chase, 26, and Savannah, 25 (Todd is also the father of Kyle, 31, and Lindsie, 33, from his previous marriage), but also Grayson, 16 and 10-year-old Chloe, who is now questioning custody while they serve their sentences.

Their sentencing comes a week after their 16-year-old son, Grayson, was involved in a serious car accident in Nashville. He reportedly suffered serious injuries, including a potential head injury, and was taken to hospital after the accident, according to TMZ.

Todd’s daughter, Lindsie, whom he shares with his ex Terry, is supportive of her father despite their previous public conflicts. They’ve all come together to show their support — the past few weeks, for sure, have brought them closer.

Lindsie is there for both of her parents despite her previous split with Todd because Lindsie wanted her son Jackson, 9, who she shares with ex Will Campbell, to have a relationship with his grandfather “no matter what”.

7. What will happen to the Chrisley show?

According to TMZ, NBC Universal has decided to cancel the Chrisley show. However, several new episodes were originally scheduled to be broadcast in 2023 so we don’t know what will happen to the show either.

In the meantime, the couple’s lawyer, Alex Little, told Vanity Fair that his clients were going to appeal their conviction. “Their trial was marred by repeated and SERIOUS errors, including the fact that the government lied to jurors about the couple’s taxes,” he said.

8. Todd Chrisley believes the crimes were not in his control:

The Chrisley family patriarch, who also shares daughter Lindsie, 33, and Kyle, 31, with ex-wife Therese Terry denied the allegations in a lengthy statement, alleging that his and Julie’s former employee Marc Braddockwas trying to get “revenge” on them.

“He took a bunch of his fake documents to the U.S. Attorney’s office and told them we did all kinds of financial crimes, like tax evasion and bank fraud,” Todd said in 2019.

“[He] persuaded another group of investigators from the U.S. Attorney’s Office to not only reopen the case, but to grant him immunity from prosecution for his own crimes and bring charges against us”, he added.

After the jury delivered its verdict, the couple’s attorney, Bruce Howard Morris said he was “disappointed” and noted that “an appeal is expected”.

He was a child artist when he got fame besides working for charity events and playing musical instruments. Although Erik has disappeared from the film industry, sources estimate his net worth around $5 million. Erik started his career at the tender age of five and was consistent with his acting skills until he was in high school. When he took a long break from acting after his show Malcolm in the Middle, Erik completed his black belt training in Taekwondo. Most of his fans wonder, where is Erik Per Sullivan, particularly when he is not seen on Instagram for days as they want him to start acting once again just like he did fifteen years back.

About Erik Per Sullivan

Erik Per Sullivan was born in Massachusetts’s Worcester on 21st July 1991. His father, Fred Sullivan had an Irish history while his mother Ann Sullivan was Swedish. Erik completed his schooling at Mount Saint Charles Academy and Philips Exeter Academy. He learnt acting from KD college and completed graduation from the University of California. Erik was a bright student and could speak Swedish and English fluently. He had also learned how to speak French later. He has no siblings and loves travelling to his mother’s native land i.e., Sweden. In addition to having a black belt in taekwondo, Erik is also a saxophonist, pianist, and plays other instruments. When we saw Erik Per Sullivan for the first time on Tv, he was just seven years old.

Erik Per Sullivan received many awards and got nominated for various roles as a child artist. His most prominent role was Dewey in Malcolm in the Middle. He was just 9 when he got Young Star Award and later received Fright Meter Award in 2001. Erik likes to keep his love life private, but he did once have a controversial relationship with an American actress, model, and singer named Daveigh Chase. Chase had always been in some of the other controversies. Once, she was caught in a stolen car in 2017 and has a net worth of not more than $500k. Erik had also helped his co-star Jane Kaczmarek to complete a book named Together which was written for a charity cause organized by Heifer International.

About Erik Per Sullivan’s role in Malcolm in the Middle

Every kid of the early 2000s will know Dewey of Malcolm in the Middle since it was one of the most popular television shows featured during that time. The show was a comedy family drama and starred Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Erik Per Sullivan. It centred around a dysfunctional family that had genius children. Erik played the role of youngest brother Dewey who is just after Malcolm. However, by the end of the final season, he was joined by his fifth sibling and one younger than him.

Although Erik appeared in a sci-fi movie Armageddon for a brief role, Malcolm in the Middle along with the ‘The Cider House rules’ were two which made him immensely popular. When he joined the film industry, Erik was just seven and when the show ended, he was 14 and completing his middle-high school. Apart from it, he had given a voiceover to Finding Nemo and Arthur of the Invisibles. The last movie where we saw him acting was Twelve where Erik played the role of Timmy.

Where is Erik Per Sullivan now?

Since Erik Per Sullivan did tremendous acting, all his fans wonder why he left acting and disappeared abruptly. As a child, he must have been interested in Hollywood as he did many sitcoms in the 2000s. But was the limelight too much for him? Frankie Muniz tweeted in 2009 that he had a conversation with Erik again and that they had spoken to each other after many years, he said that Erik was attending USC. Many fans claimed and discussed Dewey on Reddit mentioning, “Dewey is one of my favourite characters on the show. And on the last three seasons, in my opinion, he showed to be smarter than Malcolm, and even more mature that Malcolm and Reese sometimes. But they would always ignore him, or diminished everything he did.”

Erik’s co-star, Jane Kaczmarek who played Lois in Malcolm in the Middle stated about Bryan Cranston after he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame. She claimed that Erik and Bryan were close to each other and Bryan did justice to Erik’s acting potential. She said, “Some of my fondest memories are of Bryan taking care of those boys, the kids who played our naughty children.” It is evident from the comments made by the actors on the show that Erik was a part of their family and loved by everyone. But now, he is seen participating in other activities than acting from his social media accounts. While some claims that he stopped acting after his break-up with Daveigh Chase, others claim that Erik wants to live a simple life far away from the limelight.
